SPELL OF THE MONTH
By Kelevhqadesh

Spell to Help the Homeless
Obtain several dolls and doll clothing, a shoebox, and some Construction paper. Create a
miniature home with the shoebox and paper. Dress the dolls nicely and place them lovingly in
the home. The entire time you are doing this think of the homeless as having decent places to
live, clothes to wear, food to eat, medical care, and whatever else they need.

Lemon and Pin Protections Spell

Get an unripe lemon from a miniature lemon tree. Stud it with glass head pins. Use as many as
will fit into the lemon. Suspend the studded lemon from a string and hang somewhere in your
home for protection.

Herbal Petition

This could cover several intents. Gather herbs associated with particular intents. Consult a
good magical herbal book for specifics. Place a liberal amount of herbs in the four-inch by
four-inch piece of paper. Fold the paper tightly around the herbs and light it. This releases
the herbs' energies.

Prayer Flags

Get several pieces of cloth. Cut them into four-inch by six-inch sections. Write your intent
upon them in one word such as "health" or "wealth" or "love" in ink. Attach them to small
sticks (any stick you might find in your garden will do) and allow the winds to carry your
wishes to the Gods.

HERB’S TO LIVE BYBy Barbara Dreamkeeper

The following essential oils have been found to have moderate to high effectiveness in keeping various insects away from you.
To repel mosquitoes:
Basil, Cedar wood, Citronella, Geranium, Juniper, Rosemary To repel house flies: Citronella, Geranium, Juniper

To repel ants: All Mints

To repel fleas: Cajeput, Lemon, Pine

Try Lemon Eucalyptus- E. citriodora, as a bug repellent this summer. Due to its high percentage of citronellal, it is quite effective.
It's lemony scent makes it pleasant to use. Unlike most Eucalyptus it's scent is relaxing.

Healing Teas

Olive Leaf Tea
This is an herb that all homes should have! Olive leaf has enormous antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antiparasitic, and heart health benefits.
There are studies in Israel that found the leaf effective against Streptococcus by damaging the cell
membrane of the bacteria, and thus allowing intercellular substances like potassium, phosphorus,
and glutamate to leak out, disabling the bacteria. Otherwise, it kicks a hole in the bacteria cell wall
so that healing nutrients can kill the handicapped bacteria.

Prepare olive leaf as a tea or add to other teas.

The taste is mild so it will not overtake other tea flavors

Cinnamon: Help for Insulin Cinnamon:
Help for Insulin Resistance and Weight Loss

From Mary Shomon, Your Guide to Thyroid Disease.

If you think cinnamon is simply something to sprinkle on your holiday cookies or cappuccino, think again.
The popular spice, once considered more precious than gold, has medicinal value that is making even
Pharmaceutical companies take notice.

Cinnamon...
can have favorable effects on brain function and memory soothes the stomach, and may help prevent
ulcers suppresses the bacteria that causes urinary tract infections and the fungus associated with yeast
infections reduces cholesterol levels – in particular, lowering bad cholesterol while leaving good cholesterol
the same of particular interest is cinnamon’s ability to reduce blood sugar, and increase insulin levels,
results, which were documented in a respected diabetes journal.

It is cinnamon’s effect on blood sugar that makes it a potential help in the war against obesity, insulin
resistance, sometimes known as "prediabetes," and the "Metabolic Syndrome."

Cinnamon can be used in its powdered or stick form, adding it to drinks and foods, or as a supplement.

Cinnamon Helps Blood Sugar
From Cathy Wong, N.D.,Your Guide to Alternative Medicine.

One of the easiest things you can do to improve blood sugar and increase insulin is add up to a 1/2
teaspoon of cinnamon to your diet each day.

Some of the research highlights about the cinnamon-blood sugar connection are a human study
published in Diabetes Care looked at 60 people with type 2 diabetes, 30 men and 30 women with an
average age of 52. They were divided into 6 groups: groups 1, 2, and 3 consumed 1, 3, or 6 g of cinnamon
daily, respectively, and groups 4, 5, and 6 were given placebo capsules corresponding to the number of
capsules consumed for the three levels of cinnamon.

After 40 days, all three levels of cinnamon

Intake reduced fasting blood glucose ranging from 18 to 29%, triglycerides 23 to 30%, LDL cholesterol 7 to
27%, and total cholesterol 12-26%. The researchers concluded that "The results of this study…

Suggest that the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors
associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases."

The active insulin-enhancing compounds in cinnamon are found in the water-soluble portion and not the oil.
Not only have they been found to increase glucose metabolism by up to 20-fold, but they also have
antioxidant activity.

How to Make Cinnamon Tea 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup boiling water

black teabag (optional)

stevia

Place the cinnamon in a cup. Add the boiling water and steep for 10 minutes. Sweeten with stevia if
desired.

My tips

The active compounds are not lost with heating, so you can also try adding cinnamon to water before
heating and boiling them together.

If you do not like the look or texture of tea made with ground cinnamon, try making a tea by bringing water
to a boil with a piece of cinnamon bark added to it.

Try sprinkling cinnamon on salads, oatmeal, or adding a bit to chicken or meat before cooking.
Do not use more than 1/2 teaspoon a day, an amount that appears to be safe for most people.

More Health Benefits of Cinnamon

Cinnamon increases vitality and balances energy. It is particularly good for people who tend to have a hot
upper body and colder lower body. I see this quite often, especially among women entering menopause.
Symptoms are flushed face, sweating, insomnia with cold and dry legs and feet.

Cinnamon improves the digestion of fruits, milk, and other dairy products.

Cinnamon is also good for bloating, gas, poor digestion, arthritis, anemia, painful menstrual periods, and
diarrhea.

Precautions
Cinnamon can add to the effect of insulin and other blood sugar medication. Consult a health care
practitioner if you are currently taking medication to control your blood sugar.

If you're pregnant or breast feeding,

Do not take extra cinnamon greater then normally found in food unless recommended by your health care
practitioner.

Chaos is good for the pagan community”:By Black Shadow

All of the jealousy, ego’s, pagan wannabe’s, and know it all’s helps the pagan community by keeping us
on our toes by being aware of the underhandedness of our community. If this weren’t the case (chaos)
then we would be in about as much trouble as the other religious organizations out there today. To read
some of the messages on the groups opens my eyes about what is really going on in the community
today. If it were not for the chaos in this community, I would think we were living in a faerie tale land of no
problems and happy go lucky pagans that have no ego’s, jealousy or people that want to be pagans
